Harare – Excitement filled the air at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport as young players from Jadel Football Academy boarded their flight to China, where they will compete in the Hundred Cup Tournament. The team, made up of boys born between 2012 and 2014, is determined to defend the title they won last year.

For many of the budding footballers, this marks their first international experience. One thrilled player said,

“I can’t believe I’m flying to China to play football. I hope to become a professional one day and play for top teams. I’m really thankful to Mr. Walter for this chance.”

Academy founder Walter Ringers expressed confidence in the team’s preparations.

“This is our third appearance at the Hundred Cup. It’s part of our junior development focus, and after lifting the trophy last year, we’re heading back to defend it.”

The coaching staff sees the trip as more than a competition.

“This isn’t just about Jadel it’s a national initiative,” explained coach Henry Garikai Mukangairwa. “We have talent from across Zimbabwe, including places like Mutare, discovered through grassroots tournaments.”

Former CAPS United player and academy coach Stanford Mutizwa highlighted the long-term goal.

“We’re working towards 2034. By then, these youngsters should be ready to play for the national team or top international clubs.”

The Hundred Cup will run from August 8 to 16, offering the young Zimbabwean squad another shot at global exposure and the chance to build on their growing reputation in international youth football.
