Masvingo – Masvingo United Football Club better known as Una Una is rekindling hopes of a return to top-flight football as they currently hold third place in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL). With 29 points and a game in hand, they are just three points behind table-toppers Hunters FC. Tomorrow, they face a crucial showdown against second-placed Tenax FC (31 points) at Mucheke Stadium, with kickoff set for 3 PM.
This highly anticipated encounter is more than just another fixture it’s a crucial test for Una Una’s promotion ambitions. Their opponents, Tenax, are known for their discipline and structure, but Masvingo United’s head coach believes his side is ready for the challenge, We’re well prepared for the game. The boys are focused and have trained hard. Of course, this is football, so anything can happen but our goal is to win,” he confidently stated.
Una Una was once a dominant force in Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League, backed by strong funding and passionate support. However, they’ve spent more than ten years trying to reclaim the ERSL’s sole promotion spot. This season, their performance suggests they might finally be on the verge of breaking that long drought.
