Ward 10, Chivi North — The Mhikuro Village Business Unit has officially opened its doors, ushering in a new era of community empowerment and local economic growth. Funded under the Government of Zimbabwe’s devolution programme, the facility is set to become a vibrant hub for small businesses, agricultural marketing, skills training, and job creation.
The unit is designed to provide local entrepreneurs with a platform to showcase their products and services, while fostering innovation and skills development. Authorities expect the initiative to stimulate broader economic activity, enhance livelihoods, and anchor sustainable development in the region.
Speaking at the launch, Chivi North Member of Parliament Honourable Godfrey Mukungunugwa described the project as a “game-changer”, noting its potential to unlock opportunities for local business growth. He urged the community, stakeholders, and government to work together to ensure the facility’s long-term success.
Masvingo Province Youth Quota legislator Naledi Lindarose Maunganidze Madzara echoed the call for community engagement, particularly among young people. She encouraged youth to take ownership of their economic future through active participation in the business unit’s programmes.
In a symbolic gesture of support, Naledi donated US$200 to the Mhikuro Village Business Unit, pledging continued assistance to initiatives that empower communities. Her contribution was welcomed as both a morale boost and a tangible show of commitment to youth-led economic transformation.
The opening of the Mhikuro Village Business Unit stands as a practical example of the government’s devolution policy in action bringing services, opportunities, and development closer to the people it serves.
