Masvingo West – In a shining example of youth-driven development, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Masvingo, Hon. Ezra Ruvai Chadzamira, today visited a thriving poultry project run by Mr. Trust Muganji, a young and enterprising businessman based in Ward 5 of Masvingo West Constituency.
Mr. Muganji, an energetic youth and proud son of the soil, is currently raising 4,000 layer chickens that are now at the point of producing eggs. Speaking during the tour, he revealed that he is targeting to scale up his project to 20,000 layers in the near future.
“We are expecting an 80 to 85 percent laying rate from our current flock, which translates to about 113 crates of eggs per day,” he told local news correspondents. Beyond egg production, Mr. Muganji has a broader agricultural vision.
He plans to integrate poultry with irrigation farming, using manure from the chickens to fertilize crops.
“This project is not just about eggs; the manure can also be packaged for sale and used to feed our cattle, making the entire initiative sustainable and beneficial for the entire community,” he explained.
Hon. Chadzamira was visibly impressed by the project. “This is the kind of youth empowerment we want to see. If we have more young people like Trust Muganji, then Vision 2030 is not just a dream it becomes a story of real success,” he said, praising the innovative approach and entrepreneurial spirit on display.
The Minister encouraged other youths to take inspiration from Muganji’s work, reminding them that agriculture remains a powerful tool for economic transformation and self-reliance.
