President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed the critical role of education in transforming society, stating that its impact goes far beyond individual success, reaching into the heart of economic growth and national development.
Speaking at the ED-UNZA Golf Prize Dinner held at State House in Harare on Friday evening, the President said education must remain a top priority as it builds capable citizens, uplifts families from poverty, and develops a skilled workforce vital for Zimbabwe’s future.
The event followed a spirited charity golf tournament and served as both a prize-giving and fundraising dinner. More than US$600,000 was raised in support of the ED-UNZA Scholarship Trust, an initiative founded by President Mnangagwa in 2019 to provide educational opportunities to gifted but underprivileged students.
President Mnangagwa expressed deep gratitude to business leaders, philanthropists, and corporate partners for their generous contributions to the scholarship. He praised their continued support as a demonstration of national unity in empowering the next generation.
“The future of our nation rests on educated, innovative minds,” said the President. “Through education, we create the foundation for economic transformation, prosperity, and sustainable development.”
The ED-UNZA Scholarship Trust continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of young Zimbabweans, echoing the President’s belief that education is not a privilege, but a right and a responsibility shared by all.
