Masvingo West – The people of Masvingo West Constituency, Ward 11, celebrated a historic milestone today with the commissioning of Musingarabwi Clinic, a development set to transform healthcare access for thousands in the community. The event, held under the custodianship of Chief Mapanzure, drew scores of villagers, traditional leaders, and senior government officials, marking a significant stride in the Second Republic’s commitment to leaving no one and no place behind.

The ceremony was led by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Honourable Daniel Garwe, who officially commissioned the clinic and handed over 46 motorbikes for councillors, a state-of-the-art Red Lion fire tender, and a delivery lorry to the Masvingo Rural District Council.

In his welcoming remarks, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Honourable Ezra Ruvai Chadzamira said the opening of the clinic was a clear demonstration of government’s determination to bring essential services closer to the people through devolution. He noted that the clinic would ease the burden on villagers who had long been travelling long distances for medical care, particularly women in need of maternal health services.

“With this clinic, our people will now access quality healthcare closer to home, reducing the distances travelled for medical attention and greatly improving maternal health and community well-being. This occasion demonstrates our government’s determination to improve service delivery through devolution funds and partnerships with various stakeholders. We are not only building infrastructure; we are building hope, dignity, and a brighter future,” he said.

Commissioning the clinic, Minister Garwe praised the Musingarabwi community for its hard work and resilience since 2015, saying the day’s achievements reflected the government’s emphasis on walking the talk through devolution and the Constituency Development Fund. “This clinic, these motorbikes, the fire tender, and the delivery lorry are not just assets they are lifelines. They stand as proof that devolution is not a slogan but a living reality.

On behalf of His Excellency President Mnangagwa, I extend gratitude to this community for standing firm and playing their part. Indeed, nyika inovakwa nevene vayo,” Garwe said to loud applause.

Representing the Minister of Health and Child Care, Deputy Minister Honourable Slayman Kwidini described Musingarabwi Clinic as a game-changer in rural healthcare. He said the new facility would ensure that families could now receive immunisations, maternal care, and general treatment without walking long distances.

“Health is not a privilege; it is a right. Every life saved here will be a testimony to the vision of our government,” Kwidini said, assuring the community that more health personnel and supplies would be deployed to the clinic in the coming weeks.

Council Chairman Councillor Jiri thanked the government for its support, noting that the new equipment would transform service delivery in Masvingo West. He said councillors would now be able to reach communities faster with the motorcycles, while the fire tender and the lorry would strengthen disaster response and development programmes across the district.

Constituency Coordinator Cde Aleck Mugova also commended the government, saying the clinic was proof that President Mnangagwa’s pledge to leave no one and no place behind was being fulfilled.

“Our President is walking the talk. Today we are witnesses that the Second Republic delivers,” he said, a statement that was met with cheers from the gathered crowd.

The event concluded with a tour of the new facility, where villagers expressed gratitude for the development. Mothers spoke of how the clinic would ease the burden of long journeys to access healthcare, while elderly residents said the facility restored dignity and hope to the community.

As the sun set over Ward 11, the commissioning of Musingarabwi Clinic stood as a powerful symbol of progress in Masvingo West, showcasing what government and community collaboration can achieve under the devolution agenda.
