Masvingo – Young Women 4ED has thrown its full support behind the government’s ongoing efforts to protect and preserve Zimbabwe’s wetlands, ahead of the highly anticipated COP15 conference set for Victoria Falls this July. Speaking to our crew, Masvingo Provincial Chairperson Cde Sharon Marombedze underscored the importance of wetlands in sustaining ecosystems and communities.

“Wetlands are life-giving spaces,” she said. “They filter water, help control floods, and provide habitat for countless species. Protecting them is not just an environmental issue it’s a national priority.”

“The world will be watching Zimbabwe. This is an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.”

The COP15 conference is expected to deliver economic benefits as well. With delegates from across the globe visiting Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe anticipates a boost in tourism and GDP. Young Women 4ED plans to exhibit locally made products and celebrate Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage.

“We are proud to show the world what young women in Zimbabwe can achieve,” said Cde Marombedze. “From eco-conscious products to cultural arts, we want to be part of the story that rebrands Zimbabwe as a hub of innovation and sustainability.”
