ZANU PF Rallies Thousands in Alaska Ahead of Ward 14 By-Election

Mashonaland West – Thousands of ZANU PF supporters thronged Alaska, Makonde District, yesterday for a high-energy campaign rally ahead of the Ward 14 Council by-election set for August 2, 2025. The gathering underscored the ruling party’s push to secure victory and consolidate its grassroots support in Mashonaland West.

Addressing the jubilant crowd, Hon Marian Chombo, Minister of State for Mashonaland West, hailed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ongoing empowerment initiatives, noting that Ward 14 has benefited from inclusive development programs aimed at uplifting livelihoods.

Echoing the message, Cde Mary Mliswa Chikoka, the ZANU PF Mashonaland West Chairperson, urged residents to rally behind the party’s candidate, Cde Solomon Biswork, stressing that a decisive win would ensure continued progress for the community.

“These projects are not just promises; they are life-changing interventions that speak to the President’s commitment to leaving no one and no place behind,” Hon. Chombo told the cheering supporters.

The rally drew a wide spectrum of the ZANU PF leadership and affiliate organizations, signaling the party’s united front ahead of the by-election. Among those present were Pastors4ED Chairperson Dr. Evangelist Idirashe Grace Dongo, Farmers4ED leader Cde Tatenda Chitate, and popular political mobilizer Mr David masomere also known as DJ Masomere, representing Presidential Advisor Dr. Paul Tungwarara.

The strong turnout of affiliate groups underlined the message of solidarity, with slogans such as #Chakabatwa and #VictoryisCertain echoing across the rally grounds.

Key speakers highlighted a range of empowerment initiatives under President Mnangagwa’s administration, including agriculture support, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development programs tailored for rural communities like Ward 14.

Local residents were reminded that ZANU PF’s policies aim not only to address immediate needs but also to lay a strong foundation for sustainable growth in Mashonaland West.

As Ward 14 gears up for the August 2 by-election, the ruling party has made it clear that it is banking on its track record of development and the mobilization strength of its affiliates to deliver victory for Cde Biswork.
