Zimbabwe National Defence University Caps Over 200 Graduates

MazoweThe Zimbabwe National Defence University (ZNDU) yesterday celebrated its 6th graduation ceremony in Mazowe, where Chancellor Cde Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa capped more than 200 graduates in a momentous occasion that blended academic excellence with national pride. The graduates included recipients of master’s degrees and first degrees across various fields, reflecting the institution’s growing impact on Zimbabwe’s higher education landscape.

Vice Chancellor of the University and Commander of the Zimbabwe National Defence University, Dr. Mike Moyo, highlighted key projects that demonstrate ZNDU’s commitment to national development. Among them is the construction of a 2,500-megaliter water reservoir, now nearing completion, which will be a major resource for both the university and surrounding communities.

Dr. Moyo also revealed that the institution has ventured into income-generating projects aimed at bolstering financial sustainability and enhancing student opportunities. “We believe in creating an ecosystem where academic growth is matched with practical, community-focused initiatives,” he said.

The ceremony was marked by joyous scenes as graduates reflected on years of hard work and perseverance. Susan Hezzel Madamombe, a newly capped graduate, expressed her elation

“Today is more than just a graduation. It is the culmination of late nights, early mornings, and relentless determination. Wearing this gown and cap is proof that every sacrifice was worth it.”

Cde Sheron Marombedze, another graduate, shared her pride and optimism

“This achievement is a dream come true, not just for me, but for my family and community. It has given me the confidence to aim higher and contribute meaningfully to our nation’s progress.”

The event was attended by dignitaries, family members, and friends who cheered on the graduates, addingcolor and warmth to the proceedings. As ZNDU continues to blend academic rigor with developmental projects, the future looks bright for its graduates, who leave not only with degrees in hand but but also with a mission to serve and transform their communities.
